My Valentine

I hope that everyone is having a great Valentine's Day today!

I'm dying for it to be 7 already, so that I can be snuggled up in a cozy, romantic restaurant with my valentine.

I love you so, so much Sean!

JFW2013: Casting Call #1

Tuesday night was the first of two casting calls for all guys and gals looking to walk in this year's shows.

I spent the duration of the event in the room with the panel, instructing the models how and when to walk for Yoanna House (Talent Manager), Matthew David (Runway Coordinator), Cristina Farrell (COO & Co-Founder of JFW) and a few of the featured designers.

There was a really great turn out and definitely more than a few stars.

John and I have had a ton of PR classes together and are now both interning at Jacksonville Fashion Week. I absolutely adore him!

Literally getting my photo taken with a supermodel... Yoanna looks amazing in every single picture I take of her! (Plus, she's so so sweet and an awesome boss!)

If you're in the Jacksonville area next week (Tuesday Feb. 19th 4 p.m.-7 p.m.) come on out to Taste and strut your stuff! You could be working it on the runway come March!

Valentine's Day Dress

Valentine's day is literally just around the corner!

Sean and I both have work or school all day, but we were able to snag a reservation at Collage for Thursday night, lucky ducks! I had ordered a dress from Nastygal that I thought would be the perfect balance of sweet, sexy and flirty.

Precious right?

I received it in the mail about a week ago and was practically running inside to try it on and...

I might has well have wrapped myself in saran-wrap and called it a day. It was so teeny tiny and I knew that there was no way I could work off that little bit of extra holiday weight before February 14th.

So the hunt was on for a new dress. I contemplated ordering off line again, but was afraid the dress would come too late or not fit right.

Then after watching this beautifully done short film on the Free People site, I ran on over to Belk and began to dig through all of the gorgeous, bohemian frocks and tah-dah! I found my dress!

It's not quite as festive as the first, but it's beyond comfortable and I'll be free to gorge on all of the incredible food we'll be eating!

It was on sale, so I haven't been able to find it on the website, but pop on over, they have some really beautiful pieces right now.

What are your valentine's day plans? Do you have a hot date or are you going out to dance on some tables with your best friends? Either is fine, as long as you have fun!

Models & burgers

This week has been insane... I know, I know, I say that every week.

But really, my classes are really kicking into gear and Jacksonville Fashion Week is starting to get on track!

We actually had our first event on Saturday. The Model Workshop has been my baby for the past few months and I was so happy to see it go so well.

Beautiful people.

After a day of being surrounded by so many beautiful creatures I knew I should go home and eat a small salad and work my booty off... but I went for Five Guys instead.

Duh.

I left feeling completely satisfied and ready to tackle the mountains of homework I had been neglecting for the past week...

Stay tuned for more JFW2013 posts!

iPhone Diary

Warm goat cheese salad from bb's.
This espresso was the perfect pick-me-up after a day of Jax Fashion Week meetings.
Lovely little bunch of baby's breath for baby Gigi's 2nd birthday party.
Birthday Girl!
Two of my favorite rings... I picked up the blue one forever ago from Forever 21 and the teal is a vintage turquoise gift from my man.

Super Bowl Sunday

Did you watch Super Bow XLVII?
As a PR student I was cringing thinking about all of the damage control going on behind the scenes trying to fix those damn lights!
The 90s baby inside of me practically squealed when Kelly and Michelle came on stage (I bought a few Destiny's Child CDs in my day).

But really, I was watching for the commercials.

I loved this one by Audi the most:

Sean and I debated fighting the crowds to watch the game at a bar somewhere, but ended up staying in.

We settled with some brews, and I decided to make my mom's "Beer Chili".

The recipe is super-duper simple:

1 lb ground Turkey or Chicken (I used Turkey)
1 can Petite Diced Tomatoes
1 can Kidney Beans
1 package of Chili Seasonings
1 chopped Sweet Onion
1/2 clove of pressed Elephant Garlic
Handful of fresh Cilantro
1/2 can/bottle of beer (I used a whole one-- sorry mom!)

Dump it all in the pot and let it bubble until it smells delicious (or in our case until the cornbread is done).

We added a little more of the fresh cilantro, a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of shredded sharp cheddar and a few drops of hot sauce.

It turned out to be a perfectly lovely Sunday evening.

What did y'all do last night?

Morning Routine

I'm a morning person.

Always have been, hopefully always will be.

I love to wake up about an hour and half before I have to leave the house, so that I can grab a cup of coffee or tea and cuddle with my laptop before the day starts.

I check my email, facebook, twitter, instagram and all of that jazz, then I really cozy up and start my blogroll.

Obviously I love blogs, I wouldn't have started my own if I hadn't been following and admiring other people's! I love that when you read someone's blog you feel like you're sitting right across from them, comfortable and at ease with an old friend.

So here are my favorites, the ones that gather the most inspiration and entertainment from!

A Cup of Jo was one of the first blogs I ever started reading. Joanna lives in NYC with her husband and precious little boy. She is a former magazine writer, who blogs about food, fashion, motherhood and the big apple.

Rosie from The Londoner's blog is definitely one that I emulate. She blogs about travel, food, fashion and parties. She is witty and gorgeous and if I ever get to London I plan to try a few of the restaurants she's suggested!

I've got a little bit of a girl-crush on Nicole from Hourglass and Bloom. She runs a pretty little lifestyle blog and writes about all of the things I love; food, fashion, and travel.

Design*Sponge always makes me want to go get crafty. Grace posts about homes, appliances, recipes, business women and so so much more. I found DS through my last internship in Chicago. My boss Lisa Elkins, was featured a few years ago! Plus, I love that there's always a new post when I pull up her page.

The Art of Being an Intern is my friend Shannon's blog! She takes beautiful pictures and posts about awesome videos, articles and all of the great things she has going on in her life!

Design Hunter is a beautiful blog about architecture, interior design and landscape. Kim always finds the most unique and contemporary homes to post about. I developed a love for architecture and design, working for a boutique eco-architectural firm in Chicago last summer and then really cultivated a love for it when I started dating my boyfriend Sean, who went to school for architecture out in San Diego.

Last, but not least, is Cupcakes and Cashmere. Emily started her blog for fun and it has turned into her career. She blogs about the most lovely things; her adorable apartment, her delicate handmade jewelry and a million brilliant craft ideas.

I'm always looking to add to my morning blogroll, so if you've found a good one... Let me know!
