Did you watch Super Bow XLVII?

As a PR student I was cringing thinking about all of the damage control going on behind the scenes trying to fix those damn lights! 

The 90s baby inside of me practically squealed when Kelly and Michelle came on stage (I bought a few Destiny's Child CDs in my day). 

But really, I was watching for the commercials. 

I loved this one by Audi the most:

Sean and I debated fighting the crowds to watch the game at a bar somewhere, but ended up staying in.

We settled with some brews, and I decided to make my mom's "Beer Chili".

The recipe is super-duper simple:

1 lb ground Turkey or Chicken (I used Turkey)

1 can Petite Diced Tomatoes

1 can Kidney Beans

1 package of Chili Seasonings

1 chopped Sweet Onion

1/2 clove of pressed Elephant Garlic

Handful of fresh Cilantro 

1/2 can/bottle of beer (I used a whole one-- sorry mom!) 

Dump it all in the pot and let it bubble until it smells delicious (or in our case until the cornbread is done). 

We added a little more of the fresh cilantro, a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of shredded sharp cheddar and a few drops of hot sauce. 

It turned out to be a perfectly lovely Sunday evening.
