Catch up

Hi there!

Remember me?

It seems like it's been FOREVER since I've blogged. Here's some photos off of my iPhone from the past week or so to catch up!

I finally muscled up the courage and got bangs!

Just some gorgeous graduation earrings from DY.

I graduated... finally.

My parents threw me an awesome party with blue cupcakes and blueberry beer.

My sweet, sweet nephew.

Celebratory tequila shots of course.

I hope you're all doing well!

A little mind vomit...

The count down to graduation has begun, or well now it's more of an appropriate time to begin the countdown. Technically I started it about a year ago.

Funny thing is, I'm really kind of nervous about it now.

I keep thinking that it's like being in a really long line to ride a roller-coaster, waiting impatiently for hours and then you get there. You're standing in front of your seat and you think.. Just kidding! This is terrifying! I don't want to go anymore! And you exit embarrassingly in front of all of the people that actually want to ride it.

I've wanted my freedom for so long, now I can practically taste it and I'm freaking out!

Should I take a break?

Should I get a real job and make big-girl money with benefits and start paying my car insurance?

Should I just keep babysitting and spending all of my money on hair products and dresses from Urban Outfitters?

I don't know! I kind of want to keep taking classes and plan hypothetical events, and write fake press releases and make personal profile videos about my friends.

But oh well... the time is almost upon me and I'm going to have to suck it up and figure it out.

Welcome to adulthood, right?

For today though, I'm babysitting in a Star Wars t-shirt.

Duh-Land

Last week, Sean was being his sweet, thoughtful self and offered to take me on a mini-vacation to relax now that my internship with Jacksonville Fashion Week is over and my finals are about to start.

Sweet right?

However, after scouring the internet for a reasonable room in a decent city within driving distance of St.Augustine... we realized that it's spring break and you can't get a room at the Motel 6 for less than an arm and a leg.

So instead we decided to post-pone our little get-away to after I graduate. I stocked the fridge with tons of healthy foods and planned to stay in and just kick back with my man.

Saturday morning though, after a lazy breakfast we decided to go explore DeLand, FL. It's just an hour away and Sean works down there but has never gone anywhere but his office, Publix and Chili's.

It ended up being the perfect place for an impromptu mini-day-cation.

We wandered around in back alleys, stumbling upon some of the best antique shops I've ever seen. We grabbed a few beers and then sat down to one of the best meals we've had.

We found these vintage prints in the depths of one of the antique shops. They were all printed before 1930. We snagged a few and I plan to frame them for the house!

My man.

Bacon-wrapped-spicy-grilled-chili-glazed-quail with chocolate shavings. Out of this world good.

Wahoo and black-bean-mango-smash for Sean. (I had food-envy)

Bangin Veggie Succotash for me.

Vegan, Gluten-Free Peach Cobbler Goodness.

Most importantly, we picked up this candle which smells like heaven. I have a feeling I'm going to burn through it pretty fast... Guess we'll have to go back for more!

Overalls

I want a pair of vintage, distressed overalls so bad it hurts.

I've been checking every thrift store, farmer's market, Goodwill, Betty Griffin House and Salvation Army in the Northeast Florida area and haven't found a pair that fit me just right.

It's criminal!

If you've found a pair that would fit this 5'6" size 26, then let a girl know.

I know exactly how I would wear this perfect pair once I find them:

1. With a plain white wife beater and chucks.
2. With one of my Free People bralettes and strappy sandals.
3. With my white, long sleeve, cropped American Apparel tee.
4. With a JCrew striped boat tee.
5. With a black fitted V-neck and Clarks.
6. With a lacy bra and comfy sweater thrown over top.

SEE!

I would love them to pieces and make them look so chic and relaxed... Promise.

Inspiration found here:

This picture is from the movie Love and Other Drugs. Have you seen it? It's one of my all time favorites and is a guaranteed cry-fest. Jake Gyllenhal's character reminds me of my boyfriend Sean in a way. Not the man-whore, cocky, cheating parts... The sweet, funny, confident, intelligent, manly-but-gentle-I'll-do-anything-in-the-whole-world-for-you kind of way. I know, I'm a lucky girl.

ALSO: I stumbled upon the band alt-J recently and have been listening to them non-stop. They're laidback and upbeat at the same time and I find myself dancing around the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room when I have them playing on my iPhone... But honestly, what's not to love about an indie british rock band?? Am I right?

Bangin'

I get bored easily.

I'm the type of person that needs constant change, kind of like A.D.D. in life.

College has worked well for me because as soon as I get bored with a class, I have a new semester filled with brand new people, content and projects.

Eight week internships? Awesome. I learn what I need, pack a ton of experience in 2 months, then onto the next thing.

When it comes to my hair though, I've really only changed it twice.

I've always been blonde with subtle highlights.

Once chopped it all off and rocked a bob for a while...

I loved it for about 3 months, then I wanted to grow it back out again...

The second change was HUGE. A few months ago I decided to ditch the side-part that I've had since 3rd grade and tried the middle-part... crazy... I know.

Now, I'm back to the side thang.

Lately though, I've been getting bored... and lusting over the bangs I'm seeing all over Pinterest!

I love how effortless all of these girls look... However, I'm no model, so I'm worried it would look too "school girl"...

It will probably come down to a spontaneous last-minute decision... I'll be sitting in the chair and say "Just do it before I change my mind!!"

Eek!

I'll keep you updated and post pictures if I muster up the courage!

What hair trends are you into right now?

P.S.  I'm eyeing the dip-dyed ombre thing for summer...

Don't tell my mom!

Favos

Morning y'all.

I've found a few new blogs that quickly made their way to the top of my daily blogroll!

1. Refuses to Label:

Amy is a gorgeous gypsy that was featured on the Free People blog (also one of my favorites), she writes a lot about style and travel. I'd love to do just a fraction of the things she's done. *Also, I would do some pretty terrible things for that jumpsuit*

Alix packs a one-two-punch as a designer and blogger. She makes groovy clothes and photographs them in breathtaking places.

Weslie lives a life that fits into one of my many "Where I want to be in 5 years" scenarios. She lives out in Cali with her precious and stylin' little family. Her posts are always from the heart.

Amber has a style/beauty/lifestyle blog that I love. She writes in a way that makes you feel like you've known her forever. She's a "girl's girl" for sure. Plus... she has taught me how to curl my hair like I never could before!

Screeching Halt.

JFW2013 is over!

I can't believe it.

The event as a whole was incredible. Most nights were packed and the last night sold out.

The models were gorgeous and made beautiful canvases for the designers brilliant creations.

Most importantly, it was all for a great cause. The sweet little ones from Wolfson's Children's Hospital worked their stuff on the runway and afterwards, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. JFW2013 also worked with Dignity U Wear and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

I am so grateful to have met so many inspirational and successful people. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. So  thank you to Yoanna, Matthew, Cristina, Tiffany, Julio, Mario, John, Rikeeda, Darren, Shae, Regan and everyone else that taught me so much!

Seriously, I've finally come down from the crazy high of planning events, coordinating with models and designers and being surrounded by some of the most driven and successful individuals, not to mention the incredible hair and makeup professionals, and it feels like I've stalled out!

Don't get me wrong, I'm still plenty busy with nannying (I'm currently sitting in a suite in Orlando with the little boy I nanny, getting ready to ride down a lazy river and try our hand at put-put while mom, dad and big bro hit the parks) and my last 3 weeks of college... but, it just feels like somethings is missing.

I'm telling myself that I need to not "glorify being busy", but I always find myself getting bored and sometimes even insecure when I have too much down-time. Strange? Probably.

Hopefully I'll be around to be a part of next year's event, but until then I'm excited for the opportunities I now have because of this experience!

So it's on to the next big thing. Graduation and then hopefully a paying job!

Disclaimer: Some of these photos are mine, some are other instagramers, some are Mario's and some I nabbed off of the press pages.
